National Professional Practice and Ethics Exam -Septembe2020

National Professional Practice and Ethics Exam -Septembe2020
As a prerequisite for registration in the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador, new graduates and other first-time applicants are required to successfully complete an examination on the topics of professional practice and ethics. It is recommended that Members-in-Training complete at least two years of the required four years of work experience prior to writing the exam. The exam is normally offered five (5) times per year.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made within four weeks (20 working days) of the exam administration date will not be refundable, candidates will be treated as no show/absent for the exam and the exam fee will be forfeited.

A practice NPPE examination may also be purchased online at: https://nppepractice.ysasecure.com. The questions included in the practice exam will not be included in the actual examination. The practice exam is meant to provide an applicant with a sense of the types of questions that will be asked, and of the format of the exam.

Computer-based NPPE
The NPPE will be delivered electronically (computer-based examination). The attached registration form must be completed in order to register for the exam. Yardstick will be the vendor administering the NPPE in secure testing locations across the country. On the attached registration form, you are required to include your preferred writing location (city/province; country/city/state). You will be contacted by Yardstick in advance of the exam with further details on how to book your seat for the exam. The booking system is very easy to use and will provide applicants with the location options, dates, and times that are available for them to choose. Once an applicant has chosen their location, date, and time and has successfully booked their exam they will receive an automated booking confirmation email providing them with all the details about where they are to take the examination, what to bring/not to bring, etc. Applicants will be encouraged in the booking confirmation email to print off the confirmation email and bring it to the test centre on exam day with government issued photo ID. Yardstick provides support to applicants who have any issues booking their exam.

If you require special accommodations in writing the exam, please see the guidelines on our website: http://www.pegnl.ca/registration_&_licensure/ppe_exam/index.htm.

For applicants that cannot take an exam at a Canadian physical test centre location, due to being in a remote location or working out of the country, a virtual proctoring option will be available. Virtual proctoring is a process where a proctor authenticates and monitors an applicant taking a computer-based examination remotely via web-camera and audio. Applicants require a computer with internet connectivity. Yardstick makes all arrangements for virtually proctored applicants, communicating with them regarding what is required. Yardstick will identify locations requested that are outside of the Yardstick test centre network and arrange for the applicants to take the examination either via virtual proctoring or at a nearby physical test centre (e.g., there may be a test centre location in a US city that Yardstick can access rather than a remote proctored situation). All applicants that are remote proctored must have a professional member be in the same room as the applicant as a second proctor security check (i.e., to ensure that the room is secure and that the applicant is not attempting to evade the virtual proctoring oversite process). Applicants who have approved special accommodations or who are writing in special locations will be booked manually by Yardstick and will be contacted directly by Yardstick (i.e. those candidates will not receive an automated email instructing them on how to book an exam seat).

Date & Location
Please select your preferred date and time from the list on the registration page. The time and location will be confirmed via an e-mail from Yardstick in advance of the exam.
